Yeah, the Dems whine: are the Neocons better?

    Oh, please.

    Pop quiz, please. Name me an elected Republican (so Rice and Powell and Gonzales don’t count- I want people that the rank and file Republicans will support, not just tokens) who is not a white Christian.

    I’ll wait.

    Just one.

    It’s not that there aren’t white christians on the Democratic side of the isle, there are. Lots of them. Including, I comment, the current head to the DNC, one Howard Dean. It’s just that we also include and support people who aren’t white christians.

    As for Dick Durbin- he had a point. It used to be the difference between the US and Hitler, Stalin, and Pol Pot was night and day. They raped, tortured, and murdered people, and we didn’t. They violated international laws and committed crimes against humanity, and we didn’t. This isn’t true anymore. Now we both rape, murder, and kill people, we both invade countries without provocation and in violation of internation law, we both commit crimes against humanity- but they do more of them. Our gulags and concentration camps don’t have as many people in them. So if Hitler was a 10 of evil, and Stalin a 9.5, we’re like a 4. Um, does anyone else have a problem with this? “We’re not quite as evil as Stalin” isn’t exactly a glowing endorsement and shining beacon of hope and freedom for this world.

    Yeah, both sides are throwing charges of treason. Well, the party officials of one side has been throwing the treason accusations (see here and here as examples). Let’s take a look at the substance of the charges on both sides.

    Reasons that the Republicans have committed Treason:Invaded a country (Iraq) that posed no threat to the US (where are those WMDs again?) in violation of international law.Released the names of two different covert operatives (Valerie Plame-Wilson, and Muhammad Naeem Noor Khan) to the public, hindering our ability to prevent future 9-11′s (and, by the way, violating a law passed by Bush Sr.). Arrested, detained indefinately, and tortured (some to death) people, in violation of the Geneva Convention and the United States Consitution.

    Reasons that Democrats have committed Treason:By expressing doubts and concerns about the Bush administration, they have stabbed America in the back. Because if you don’t mention the problems in Iraq, they don’t exist.They voted for someone not name Bush.They drink lattes and drive foreign carsThey refuse to acknowledge the power of the dark side of the force.They say mean things about Republicans sometimes.

    But in the whacky world of political pundits, both cases have equal merit and validity. So I guess both sides are just being silly. Where I come from, the Emperor is still parading around in his birthday suit.
