“Pigmata”

For many angsty, adolescent years, I was a particularly huge fan of two bands: “KMFDM” and “Pig”. KMFDM broke up, reconstituted itself as MDFMK, f-ed up its sound with “Schwein”, and then returned as good ol’ “KMFDM” sans two long-term members. I haven’t been all that enthused with them since that reconstruction — although their music is good, solid industrial, I don’t hear real innovation in their sound since losing En Esch and Guenter Schulz to “Slick Idiot”.

On the other hand, I just picked up the most recent album by Pig (“Pigmata”), and it is excellent. I highly suggest it for anyone into the heavier range of music — the music of “Pig” is a strange sound in general. It’s kind of in-your-face melodic…the bastard off-spring of acid jazz and industrial. The lyrics aren’t that impressive, but Raymond Watt’s delivery is awesome. Theoretically, you can check out the music here, but I’m not sure about the quality or selection of clips.

All this reminds me…I need to check in on :W: and see what they’re up to. And I still haven’t made any headway against my music list, except discovering that I don’t like Belle and Sebastian after all.
