Klezmer Music

Check it out if you haven’t. I’ve become a big fan of Klezmerica* (who have free MP3s on their site), and they go from traditional klezmer music through “Gershwin the Klezmer” through a raucus rock-infused klezmer sound through a kind of modern jazz take on kelzmer music. They’re really good.

*Hey, I thought only Minnesota Calvinists called themselves the Frozen Chosen!

If you like Klezmer music, check out the Klezmatics. Love ‘em. And for an exotic touch, infamous New York experimental composer John Zorn has produced a great deal of “New Jewish Music” for other artists, including a lot of Klezmer and Klezmer hybrids. “At the Rebbe’s Table” by Tim Sparks is one of my current favorite albums.

Funny that you should chime up. I was planning on posting that 7 songs meme onto my LJ when I got a moment.

Probably tomorrow or Wednesday, though: today’s been a bad day.
