JavaOne (and CommunityOne!)

JavaOne June 2-5, 2009

It’s getting to be a bit late in the game, but if you’re not up for the price tag on JavaOne, you should definitely consider CommunityOne — it’s free, and gives access to the JavaOne Pavilion and the General Sessions.

For my part as a member of the “Blogging Press Corps”, here is what you can expect to see on EnfranchisedMind during JavaOne:

  • I’ve set up a meeting with Atlassian about Bamboo and Crucible (Wednesday at 1:00), so there will definitely be a talk there.
  • I will definitely be covering the Scripting Language Bowl in some detail. Martin O will be coding Scala in the same session, which is pretty awesome and ballsy.
  • Lots of interesting ideas about concurrency, language design/development/interoperability, and any other crazy stunts that people are pulling with JVM code.
  • I’m going to be gunning to be on the Grails Podcast BOF discussion panel live recording. We’ll see if I make it!
  • Also trying to arrange a meeting with the under-advertised This Ain’t Your Dad’s Java podcasters — they’re marketing folks, so I’d like to hear what they have to say about the marketing vision for non-Java languages on the JVM, among other questions.

I’ll also have a 100 or so GroovyMag samplers to hand out, so be sure to find me to add to your swag collection!

I do have a question for my readers: if I take a bunch of pictures (odds are very good), how would you recommend I share them? Just link to Flickr from here? Provide some kind of gallery on this site?
