Although my teenage-angst, KMFDM/PIG-idolizing self would hate to hear it, I’ve become quite a fan of downtempo and chillout music. Although I’m a big fan of Raleigh/Durham’s The Grooveblaster and Permanent4, undoubtedly my favorite artist is Lovespirals, so I was crazy excited when their new album Future Past was released. You can see my review here.
One of the things that Lovespirals do is release an informal but very interesting podcast called Chillin’ with Lovespirals. It’s like hanging out with the band for half an hour or better. The episode I’m sharing has them talking about releasing an album in the global social media context. It’s fascinating from a music fan’s standpoint, but moreover from a social media/cultural pundit standpoint. Definitely worth a listen, which is why I’m sharing it here!
Other “Chillin’ with Lovespirals” episodes talked about guitar technology, retrofitting a house to be more environmentally friendly, and all kinds of stuff. Good stuff. You should subscribe: podcast feed.
BTW, here’s the unboxing video they refer to in the podcast.
