It’s obvious where “The Daily Show” is coming from: they’re looking for the comedy. It’s less obvious where Lou Dobbs is coming from, which makes it harder to watch the show and interpret what you are seeing. And in an effort to be professional (or whatever), the human touch is really lost on all these other programs: when I’m watching them, I just feel lied to all the time. And it doesn’t help when they’re actually lying to me.

What makes Jon Stewart a good journalist is his willingness to call bullsh*t what it is- something most so-called journalists are loathe to do. Why do you think Walter Cronkite was so trusted? Because- despite being liberal- he was willing to stand up and expose the lies of the Johnson administration about Viet Nam. Is there any controversy, any difference of opinion, that the media would be willing to call bullsh*t?

We lead today with the ongoing controversy over the so-called “round earth” theory. Many leading scientists and intellectuals promote the theory that the earth is, in fact round- although many then hasten to clarify that by round, they in fact mean spherical. But questions about this theory remain, and many are still not convinced. We take you now to a live interview with Bubba Redneck, a real American and prominent critic of the round earth theory, who lives in West Texas where it is, in contradiction to the intellectuals, flat as a pancake.

Yeah, I’m being sarcastic there, but not by much. I mention that both Evolution and Global Warming are regularly portrayed as “controversial”.
