I can’t follow the link on this. Nonetheless, I’m not surprised. Was it friendly fire, or deliberate?
One of the more diabolical paradoxes of the stay-the-course crowd is that we’re supposed to stay until the Iraqi army can handle insurgency on its own. But we manage to handle the insurgency (such as we do) only through the greatly superior firepower of our air power, armor, and communications. We won’t give ANY of those tools to the Iraqi army, for fear they’ll be used against us. How are the Iraqis supposed to fight insurgents (at least the way we expect) without an air force?
